Check More » HARRISBURG The board of the TriCounty Housing Development Corporation recently announced the selection of Gary E. Lenker to serve as its new executive director.
“Gary will bring strong development and Construction experience to our organization, sovaldi and We welcome him with open arms, cure ” said TriCounty HDC Board President Robert Keith.
Lenker is vice president and director of operations for Donco Construction, Dauphin, a 50-year-old family firm specializing in single family home construction with an emphasis on first-time buyer and affordable housing. Lenker will continue his role with Donco construction While also serving as TriCounty HDC’s executive director.
“I Welcome this challenge in my career, and I look forward to working with the TriCounty
HDC board to continue its important work of expanding affordable housing opportunities for families in the capital region,” said Lenker.
Among his accomplishments, Lenker` has served as the 1991 president of the 11,000 member Pennsylvania Builders Association. In addition to other leadership positions with PBA, he was the 2002 recipient of the industry’s highest honor, the Distinguished
Achievement Award, and the 1992 recipient of PBA’s Builder of the Year Award.
Lenker has also been active in his local builders association, the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg. Most notably, he served his local association as president in 1985 and 1986. In 2008, he was honored by his local association with its
Distinguished Service Award. In 2009, he was named its Builder of the Year.
Lenker has been active in both the community and government arenas. Governor-elect
Tom Ridge and Governor-elect Ed Rendell both asked him to serve on their administration’s transition teams, drawing on his housing expertise. In 1990, Governor Casey appointed Lenker to serve on the Economic Development Partnership Board Committee on Housing.
Additionally, Lenker was the home building industry’s representative to the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency’s board of directors from 1995 to 2011, serving as vice chairman of the board and as chairman of its Program and Development Review Committee.
Lenker currently serves on the Dauphin County Redevelopment Authority, the board of the Dauphin County Affordable Housing Trust Fund, the Dauphin County Planning Commission and the TriCounty Regional Panning Commission.
Lenker` is a graduate of the Harrisburg Area Community College and the National Association of Home Builders’ Graduate Builders Institute. He has completed the NAHB “Green Building for Building Professionals” course. He holds areal estate broker’s license and a certified broker appraiser license.
Lenker assumed his new position with the TriCounty HDC on August 25th.
